Jharkhand’s Khelo India Sporting Centre to be functional by July
RANCHI: The state capital will have the Khelo India Sporting Centre of Excellence (KISCE) to harness sporting talent and groom them for international tournaments, including the Olympics, by July-end.
A former Indian women’s hockey player and sports director of Jharkhand, Sarojini Lakra, on Thursday said each state will have one sporting centre of excellence and this time it’s Jharkhand.
A high-performance centre, which will be aimed at enhancing the performance of players by implementing state-of-the-art sports, technology, and medicines will also be set up,” Lakra added.
As many as 139 athletes will be trained at the centre. Of them, 54 would be hockey players, 21 archers and 64 athletes.
“In Ranchi, the KISCEs will be set up in the Mega Sports Complex in Hotwar. These centres will be managed and run on a day-to-day basis by the Sports Authority of Jharkhand.
