Uttam Tanti from Assam's Sonitpur District will receive National Bravery Award 2023 in New Delhi on 26th Jan on occasion of Republic Day.

Uttam Tanti was just 10 years old when he saved two persons from drowning in rising floodwaters of Digholjuli river, in village Dhankhana under Thelamara Revenue Circle of Sonitpur district on July 7, 2019.

National Bravery Awards are a set of bravery awards given annually to about 25 children below 18 years of age for ‘meritorious acts of bravery against all odds.” The awards are given by the Government and Indian Council for Child Welfare. The award was instituted in 1957.
