The 7th United Muay Thai Association of India organized the National Youth Muay Thai Championship on behalf of the Muay Thai Association of Uttarakhand at the Indira Gandhi International Sports Stadium, Haldwani. Nearly 900 athletes from 26 states across the country took part in the championship.
The Punjab contingent competed under the leadership of Mohinder Pal, general secretary of the Sports Muay Thai Association of Punjab. Rajiv Walia, president of the Sports Muay Thai Association of Punjab and the Youth Sports Welfare Board, also attended the championship. He held a special meeting with UMAI India general secretary Ram Chaudhary and honored him by draping a shawl over his shoulders.
Walia said that, under Mahinder Pal’s leadership, Muay Thai will be further promoted across Punjab and that the Youth Sports Welfare Board team will extend full support. Punjab athletes Devika Bhatti, Muskaan, Rabia, Bandana Kumari, Anshika Jaswal, Gurveer Kaur, Aakashdeep Singh and Harpreet Kaur delivered outstanding performances under coach Prince’s guidance.
