200 Years of Hindi Journalism Celebrated in Kolkata: National Seminar Organized by 'Samarpan Trust'

KOLKATA, June 8, 2026:
​To commemorate the historic milestone of 200 years of Hindi journalism, a special one-day National Seminar was organized at the Rotary Sadan in Kolkata under the aegis of the 'Samarpan Trust'. The central theme of the event was "Hindi Journalism: The Journey of Words, Across Two Centuries."
Presence of Distinguished Guests:
Professor Rammohan Pathak and Professor Soma Bandyopadhyay as distinguished guests and speakers. The special seminar was presided over by Dinesh Bajaj. A galaxy of eminent personalities graced the occasion, including Shankarlal Agrawal, Niranjan Agrawal, Mahesh Agrawal, Abhishek Sharad, Pradeep Dhedhia, and Pankaj Bhalotia, among others.
Highlights of the Event
​During the seminar, the eminent speakers threw light on the rich history of Hindi journalism, its long 200-year journey, and its pivotal role ranging from the country's freedom struggle to the contemporary era. The dignitaries on stage also reminisced about the dark period of the Emergency in India and discussed the historical struggles faced by journalists during that time.
