Kolkata: The internal crisis within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has deepened amid speculations of a possible split among its Lok Sabha MPs. Abhishek Banerjee made an unexpected visit to Delhi as the party leadership strives to manage the situation.

During protests in the Ariadah area of Kamrhaati, TMC MLA Madan Mitra's vehicle was attacked with eggs, reflecting recent political tensions. Meanwhile, the West Bengal government has ordered a statewide review of all madrasas, requesting detailed reports from district administrations by July 5. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced plans to provide 60 new modern trains to Kolkata Metro over the next five years, along with approximately ₹1 lakh crore in railway projects across West Bengal.

The state government dissolved the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation board and appointed an administrator, with similar action speculated for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC). Additionally, KMC councillor Bappaditya Dasgupta was arrested on charges of extortion, criminal conspiracy, and threats. Kolkata Metro proposed a new 8.8 km metro line from Chitpur (Kolkata Station) to Karunamoyee. Today's weather forecast predicts maximum temperatures around 36°C and minimum 28°C, with chances of rain or thunderstorms in some areas.
