Mallikarjun Kharge Urges Caution in DK Shivakumar Cabinet Formation

Karnataka: AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized the need for caution while selecting ministers for the new cabinet during DK Shivakumar's swearing-in as Chief Minister. He stated that the number of MLAs to be inducted and the creation of deputy chief minister posts have not yet been decided. Kharge highlighted that the Congress high command is considering all aspects and that clarity would emerge by Wednesday morning.

Kharge further mentioned the importance of avoiding dissatisfaction after the cabinet formation, especially with the upcoming assembly elections in 24 months. Initially, around 8 to 10 ministers, including DK Shivakumar, may be sworn in, with the remaining posts to be filled within 15 weeks or a month. He underscored the need to thoughtfully create deputy chief minister positions as part of this process.
