Punjab Cabinet Approves Permanent Employment for 65,000 Outsourced Workers

Punjab: The Punjab cabinet has taken a historic decision to make over 65,000 outsourced and contractual employees permanent, effectively ending the contractor system. This move ensures that no middlemen or contractors will be involved, and every employee will have direct employment with the government, with salaries credited directly to their bank accounts.

Additionally, employees engaged in risky jobs such as firemen, sewer men, and linemen will be made permanent after only three years of service instead of five. A special cabinet sub-committee has been formed to resolve pending issues related to employee dues and Dearness Allowance (DA). Furthermore, approval has been given to establish seven new special courts in Punjab for the speedy disposal of corruption cases, reinforcing the government's commitment to protect the rights of employees and the public.
