Municipal Council Elections: 66.21% Voter Turnout Recorded Across Six Towns; Polling Conducted Peacefully

A peaceful, fair and transparent voting process saw a total turnout of 66.21 percent in municipal council elections held on Tuesday across six towns in the district.
Under the directions of the State Election Commission, the district administration ensured robust security and other necessary arrangements throughout the polling exercise. Voting was conducted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., during which voters enthusiastically exercised their franchise.
Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Additional District Election Officer Nikas Kumar said turnout figures were 65.90 percent in Mukerian, 63.18 percent in Dasuya, 65.34 percent in Garhshankar, 68.80 percent in Haryiana, 75.03 percent in Garhdiwala and 67.07 percent in Uarmur Tanda.
He added that polling took place peacefully at 118 polling stations set up for 80 wards across the six municipal councils. Extensive security arrangements were in place at the polling centres, with district police and administrative officers maintaining continuous surveillance throughout the day.
Nikas Kumar thanked election staff, security personnel and voters for their cooperation in successfully conducting the polls. Counting of votes is scheduled for May 29 at designated centres under tight security and CCTV surveillance.
