Dibang Valley Tensions Rise After Alleged Assault on Shri Jamoh Mihu

Anini: Tension continues to rise in Dibang Valley District following the alleged assault of senior citizen and government servant Shri Jamoh Mihu by police personnel on May 20, reportedly under the direction of Circle Officer Tadang Rai. Authorities claim the incident occurred after Mihu allegedly chased the officer with a machete, an allegation strongly denied by Mihu and his supporters who maintain that the police actions were unjustified and excessive.

On May 21, public members from across Dibang Valley, including representatives of the All Idu Mishmi Students’ Union (AIMSU) and All Idu Mishmi Youth Association (AIMYA), held protests demanding a fair, transparent, and impartial inquiry. A formal complaint has also been submitted against Circle Officer Tadang Rai, seeking official proceedings and administrative action. The incident has raised widespread concern among citizens urging authorities to ensure justice, transparency, accountability, and maintain peace.
