22 Dead Due To Heatstroke Across Telangana State

Hyderabad, May 22 – IMA Media Update News : Across the state, the sun appears to be unleashing its fury, spewing fire as if seeking vengeance. Even before the onset of the 'Rohini Karte' (the peak summer phase), the intensity of the heat has reached unprecedented levels, leaving the public in distress. The severity of the situation is starkly reflected in the fact that yesterday alone, 22 people across various parts of the state succumbed to heatstroke. Compounding the intense heat are stifling humidity and scorching winds, causing roads to resemble a curfew zone during the afternoon hours. According to the latest warnings from the Meteorological Department, there is a risk that temperatures could exceed 46 degrees Celsius in the coming days. Of particular concern is the fact that in rural areas especially among agricultural laborers heading out for work, the destitute, and the elderly people are falling victim to these heatwaves and losing their lives.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has clarified that strong heatwaves are likely to persist on Friday across 11 districts of Telangana state. The department has advised residents of these districts to refrain from venturing outdoors unless absolutely necessary. Meanwhile, there appears to be a possibility of scattered rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in districts such as Khammam, Kothagudem, Sangareddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, and Kamareddy.

★ Precautions to be Taken in Telangana Districts Under 'Red Alert' :

Medical experts are warning residents of these districts to refrain from stepping out of their homes between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, unless absolutely necessary. Experts emphasize that the only way to protect ourselves from potentially fatal heatstroke is to continuously consume fluids such as water, ORS solution, buttermilk, and coconut water to prevent dehydration.

☛ Note : Given the severe heat conditions, weather officials advise the public to avoid venturing outdoors between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM unless it is an emergency, and to take all necessary precautions.
