Merit Awards Presented to Journalists Children in Mysuru

Mysuru, May 20: A special programme organised by the Mysore Photo Journalists Association at the Mysuru District Journalists’ Bhavan honoured students who secured high marks in the SSLC and PUC examinations with merit awards instituted in memory of senior journalists Dr. K.B. Ganapathy and Rajashekhar Koti.

During the event, editors Vikram Muthanna and Ravi Koti presented the “Dr. K.B. Ganapathy and Rajashekhar Koti Merit Awards” to the students. Addressing the gathering, District Journalists’ Association President K. Deepak said that regardless of how many newspapers emerge, the legacy of Mysuru journalism continues to be strongly associated with the names of Dr. K.B. Ganapathy and Rajashekhar Koti. He noted that both journalists had preserved the identity and dignity of Mysuru journalism and had contributed hundreds of journalists to Kannada and English media, many of whom are now working successfully across India and abroad.

Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Muthanna said it was heartening that awards were being presented to children in the memory of his father Dr. K.B. Ganapathy and Ravi Koti’s father Rajashekhar Koti. He also suggested organising training programmes in the future for journalists and heads of media institutions. Later, Ravi Koti, Editor of Andolana Newspaper, appreciated the initiative and said the event had been organised well. He added that they would join hands with the organisers for future editions and congratulated all the award-winning students.
