One Dead, Seven Hospitalised After Suspected Food Poisoning in Rajouri

Rajouri: A 60-year-old man named Mohammad Hussain died while seven others, mostly children, were hospitalised after allegedly consuming a wild vegetable in Mohra village of Kotranka subdivision. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when members of two families ate the wild vegetable.

By evening, eight family members developed symptoms of suspected food poisoning and were taken to the Community Health Centre in Kandi. Due to worsening conditions, they were referred to Government Medical College Rajouri for specialised treatment. Mohammad Hussain died during treatment, while the others remain under medical observation. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause, which is preliminarily linked to a poisonous wild vegetable but is yet to be confirmed.
