Kolkata Leather Complex Faces Severe Infrastructure Issues Affecting Business

Kolkata: The Kolkata Leather Complex, Asia's largest leather complex and the only operational industry in West Bengal, is currently facing severe infrastructure challenges. Development work on roads and drainage, which began over a year ago, remains incomplete. The poor road conditions make movement within the complex difficult both on foot and by vehicle. Frequent vehicle breakdowns have become common due to these deteriorating roads.

The complex supports more than one lakh families, and the ongoing issues have led to a decline in business over the past year. Foreign buyers are increasingly seeking alternative markets due to the current situation. Industry representatives have appealed to the Government to urgently address and complete the pending development work to stabilize the business environment.
