Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections (May 2026)

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, has emerged as the single largest party. This marks a massive change in the state's political landscape.
Vijay won in both the Perambur and Trichy East constituencies.
The results led to a hung assembly, but TVK holds the most seats (around 107), moving ahead of both the DMK and AIADMK.
Outgoing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin lost his seat in Kolathur.
West Bengal Assembly Elections (May 2026)
In a landmark result, the BJP has won the West Bengal state elections for the first time, securing over 205 out of 294 seats. This ended the 15-year rule of Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Indian General Elections (2024)
Looking back at the national level from a couple of years ago:
Winner: The NDA alliance, led by Narendra Modi, secured a majority with 293 seats.
Prime Minister: Narendra Modi took the oath for a third consecutive term.
Opposition: The INDIA alliance (led by Congress) outperformed expectations, winning 234 seats, with the Congress party alone winning 99.
