District Planning Committee Chairperson Thanks Punjab Government for Releasing Funds for Widows and Destitute Women
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/April 21
District Planning Committee Chairperson Karamjit Kaur has welcomed the Punjab government's release of over ₹102 crore for the state's widows and destitute women for March under the financial year 2026-27. She described the step, led by Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, as a significant initiative towards women's social and economic empowerment.
Kaur stated that the Punjab government is continuously working with sensitivity for the welfare of society's weaker sections, making concrete efforts to ensure women's financial security.
This financial assistance will provide major relief to thousands of widows and destitute women who depend on government aid to meet their daily needs, she added. Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann's leadership, the state government is prioritising people-centric policies that directly benefit needy families.
The aid will not only strengthen these women economically but also boost their self-confidence and self-respect, Kaur said. Government policies are helping women lead dignified lives.
The District Planning Committee Chairperson expressed confidence that the Punjab government will continue working with the same commitment for the upliftment of deprived sections, ensuring government schemes reach every needy person.
