DC Appeals to Voters for Cooperation in Voter Mapping with BLOs
Hoshiarpur/ Daljeet Ajnoha/April 20
In line with directives from the Election Commission of India, a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists is likely to commence soon in Punjab. As part of pre-SIR activities, the current electoral roll is being matched and mapped against the 2003 voter list.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain shared that the district has a total of 12,68,734 voters, of whom 10,65,313 (83.97%) have already been mapped by Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
She explained that BLOs from assembly constituencies are visiting homes to verify and map details against the 2003 voter list. The District Election Officer appealed to all voters in the district to cooperate in this crucial Election Commission initiative by providing BLOs with necessary documents and information during voter mapping.
Voters whose names appeared in the 2003 list at specific locations or booths should share those details with their current BLO to ensure the process completes smoothly and on time, she added.
Additionally, the District Election Officer has instructed all appointed Electoral Registration Officers and supervisors in the district to monitor BLOs' voter mapping work daily and resolve any issues promptly.
