Poonch Police Engages Youth and Religious Institutions in Fight Against Drug Abuse Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan

Poonch, April 19, 2026

Continuing its sustained efforts against drug abuse under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan”, District Police Poonch organized a series of drug awareness programmes in the Mendhar area.

A comprehensive awareness programme was conducted at Madarsa Dar-ul-uloom Sarhandi, Mendhar, wherein students along with religious teachers actively participated. The participants were sensitized about the ill effects of drug addiction, its adverse impact on health and society, and the legal consequences associated with narcotics abuse and trafficking.

Similarly, another awareness programme was organized at Madrasa Dawat-e-Islami, Dakki Mendhar. Students and staff members attended the session and were educated on the dangers of substance abuse, its long-term repercussions, and the importance of leading a drug-free life.

During both programmes, emphasis was laid on the role of society, particularly the youth and religious institutions, in combating the menace of drugs. The participants were encouraged to act as ambassadors of change by spreading awareness and promoting a drug-free society, in line with the moral and ethical teachings imparted through religious education.

District Police Poonch reiterates its commitment to eradicating drug abuse and appeals to the general public to cooperate with the police in this collective fight against narcotics.
