Beet Residents to Protest Against Prolonged Unscheduled Power Cuts on April 21

Residents of Beet area will stage a demonstration in front of the Binewal electricity office at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 21, against prolonged unscheduled power cuts.
This was announced by Ajaib Singh Boparai, general secretary of the All India Jatt Maha Sabha Punjab; panchayat samiti member Kamal Kataria Comrade Garib Dass Bitan; Voice of the People convener Pawan Sharma; and panchayat samiti member Mohan Lal. They stated that summers have just begun, yet daily unscheduled cuts lasting 12 to 16 hours have already started.
They warned that if the Binewal office fails to ensure 24-hour power supply to Beet after the dharna, residents are prepared to escalate protests to Garhshankar. They recalled that in 2004, Beet residents staged a dharna until 11 pm on the Garhshankar-Anandpur Sahib road in front of the Powercom executive engineer. The chief engineer arrived on site and announced 24-hour electricity supply for the area, which was maintained thereafter. However, whenever cuts resumed in the past, locals' struggles led to restoration. They vowed not to tolerate the current cuts under any circumstances.
