Today, in the second phase of series of programs marking the 135th birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, essay writing and poster-making competitions were organised at the local Mary Gold Public School by Bahu-Rang Kala Manch Hoshiarpur and My Bharat Hoshiarpur . The chief guest was former MP Avinash Rai Khanna, and the special guest was retired Deputy Director of Education, Mr. Ashwani Kumar Dutta. On this occasion, Ramesh Kumar, President of Sat Sri Akal Doaba; Principal Madam Rupinder Kaur; and theatre artist Ashok Puri were specially present. In the second phase of the program, the street play ‘Pehla Padho’ (Study First), prepared by Bahu-Rang Kala Manch, was performed.
In the essay writing competition, Parneet Kaur secured first place, Simriti second, and Jaspreet Kaur third. In poster making, Dev Kumar stood first, Ranveer Singh Dhami second, and Gagan Suri third. Madam Anu Mehta and Meena Rani made special contributions to organizing this program. On this occasion, Chief Guest Avinash Rai Khanna spoke about Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s contribution to India and stated that students should stay away from bullying-the world's biggest problem—and maintain brotherhood from their school days. He shared that this year, the Government of India is creating awareness among people by celebrating Ambedkar Jayanti in 576 districts across the country.
At the end of the program, before honouring the chief guest, special guest, and School Principal Rupinder Kaur, the actors of the street play ‘Pehla Padho’—Parvesh, Jasmeet, Sandhya, Dev Kumar, Harleen Kaur, Sukhmani, Dharmpreet, and Drishti, along with Ashok Puri—performed their roles. Students who secured first, second, and third positions in all competitions were also honoured.
