J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN ARRESTED DRUG PEDDLER; 120 GRAMS OF CHARAS-LIKE SUBSTANCE RECOVERED

Continuing its sustained efforts to eliminate the menace of drugs from society, Shopian Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered a charas like substance from his possession.

During routine naka checking at Ringward road, a police party from Police Station Keller noticed a person in suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him. During the search, a charas-like substance weighing approximately 120 grams was recovered from his possession. The individual disclosed his identity as Zakir Hussain Awan resident of Pehlipora Dunadoo Keller.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 33/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Keller and further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and to dismantle the broader drug network involved
