Poonch Police Steps Up Anti-Drug Campaign, Awareness Programme Held at GDC Mandi

Carrying forward its intensified efforts against drug abuse, District Police Poonch organized a Drug Awareness Programme at Government Degree College (GDC), Surankote on April 11, 2026, within the jurisdiction of Police Station Surankote.

The programme was conducted by SDPO Surankote, DySP Sh. Surinder Singh (JKPS), with the aim of sensitizing students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and reinforcing the importance of leading a healthy, drug-free life.

During the interactive session, students were made aware of the severe physical, psychological, and social consequences of substance abuse. They were motivated to stay vigilant and act as responsible citizens by spreading awareness among their peers and communities, while firmly keeping themselves away from drugs.

The event witnessed active participation from the Principal of GDC Surankote, faculty members, and around 300 students from various streams. The initiative received wide appreciation, with participants expressing their resolve to contribute towards building a drug-free society.

District Police Poonch reiterates its unwavering commitment to sustain such impactful awareness drives across the district, strengthening the collective fight against the drug menace and ensuring a safer future for the youth.
