Bargarh Loksabha MP Pradeep Purohit raised the issue of Veer Surendra Sai .

Bargarh Loksabha MP has drawn attention to the historical contribution of Odisha's immortal freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai. His armed uprising, which began in 1827, is a unique chapter in the history of India's freedom struggle. The guerrilla war he waged with the help of local tribes and landlords in remote areas like Debrigarh and Barapahad in Sambalpur was a big challenge for the British government. The year 200 years (bicentenary) of this historic struggle is coming to an end in 2027. On this occasion, your proposal for organizing national-level programs, exhibitions and memorials in Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar and New Delhi in collaboration with the Central and State Governments is very appropriate. This will give a new identity to the unique sacrifice of Veer Surendra Sai and his associates in the entire world. As the representative of Bargarh parliamentary constituency, the MP has drawn the attention of the Parliament to the historical contribution of Odisha's immortal freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai. His armed uprising, which began in 1827, is a unique chapter in the history of India's freedom struggle. The guerrilla war he waged with the help of local tribes and landlords in remote areas like Debrigarh and Barapahad in Sambalpur was a big challenge for the British government. The year 200 years (bicentenary) of this historic struggle is coming up in 2027. On this occasion, Pradeep Purohit has demanded a year-round national level program, exhibition and publication of memorials in Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar and New Delhi with the joint cooperation of the Central and State Governments. This will give a new identity to the unique sacrifice of Veer Surendra Sai and his associates in the entire world. As the representative of Bargarh parliamentary constituency, the MP has made various proposals to bring this glorious history to the public. Almost three decades before the first freedom struggle of 1857, i.e. in 1827, at the age of just 18, he led an armed uprising against the British rule in the Sambalpur area. In 2027, this historic uprising will complete 200 years. On this occasion, he requests that national level seminars, commemorative publications, exhibitions and cultural programs be organized in Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar and New Delhi. In particular, special steps be taken to preserve and publicize the Debrigarh battlefield located in Bargarh, Bargarh parliamentary constituency. Through this, the countrymen will come to know about the unparalleled sacrifice of Veer Surendra Sai. Similarly, the slogan for the social media campaign is "The Olive Flame of Armed Struggle: Veer Surendra Sai." "1827 to 2027: Two Hundred Years of Surendra Sai's Valor." "The Land of Debrigarh Says, Veer Surendra Sai's Glory." "Let's Build a New History, Honor Our Glorious Ancestors." The MP has proposed that it be done. For the development of Debrigarh, a state-of-the-art digital museum should be built in Debrigarh, where the guerrilla warfare techniques of Veer Surendra Sai, the weapons used and the history of his fellow fighters should be displayed. Debrigarh and Barapahad area should be declared as a 'Historical Tourism Circuit'. The hideouts and battlefields of the fighters should be preserved here and facilities should be increased for tourists. A grand light and sound show should be arranged in Debrigarh to bring the story of Veer Surendra Sai's struggle alive. A huge victory pillar should be built at the entrance to Debrigarh, which will remain a silent witness to the great uprising of 1827. An 'eco-heritage' model should be prepared to combine the memory of this struggle with the protection of wildlife sanctuaries, said the Bargarh MP. National seminars, exhibitions and cultural programs should be organized in Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar and New Delhi throughout the year. A special commemorative postage stamp and books and photographs based on his biography should be prepared on this occasion. A long-distance express train passing through Sambalpur or Bargarh should be named 'Veer Surendra Sai Express'. Paintings related to the struggle of Veer Surendra Sai and a magnificent statue of him should be installed at Bargarh Road and Sambalpur railway stations and special arrangements should be made to show this historical battlefield of western Odisha to tourists through the 'Bharat Gaurav' train. MPs have demanded on various occasions.
