Request to safeguard the constitutional voting rights of evicted legal Indian citizens.

To,
1. The Hon'ble Election Commission of India.
2. The Hon'ble Chief Electoral Officer, Assam.

Subject: Request to safeguard the constitutional voting rights of evicted legal Indian citizens.

Sir,
I would like to draw your kind attention to the plight of numerous legal Indian citizens in Goalpara district and various other parts of Assam who have been evicted and are currently living in dire conditions. Although these individuals are recognized as valid voters by the Election Commission, they are forced to live under plastic tarpaulins in open fields.
Recent storms and heavy rains have destroyed even these makeshift shelters, leaving them completely vulnerable. In such a tragic and uncertain environment, where they are struggling for basic food and shelter, it is nearly impossible for them to exercise their constitutional right to participate in the electoral process.
I earnestly request the Election Commission to:
1. Ensure the protection of the fundamental rights of these valid voters by addressing their residential instability.
2. Take necessary measures so that they can participate in the upcoming elections safely and with dignity.
In the interest of Indian democracy, I urge you to look into this matter with a humanitarian perspective and ensure that no legal citizen is deprived of their right to vote due to their current displacement.

Yours sincerely,
Abdul Hai
Tinkoniapara, Goalpara, Assam.
