Mahatma Gandhi MBC lift irrigation scheme being built at a cost of rs 1642 crores will lift Krishna river water and provide irrigation water to 53,000 acres in 23 villages of Chintalapalem, Mellacheruvu, Huzurnagar and Mattampally mandals of Suryapet district. Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy directed the engineers to ensure both quality and speed in the construction of this lift irrigation scheme. He instructed that the construction work of this lift irrigation scheme must be completed and farmers must receive krishna water by September 2026.
