New Delhi, February 25, AIMA MEDIA NEWS:Kerala will henceforth be known as "Keralam", Kerala will now be 'Keralam'. The Union Cabinet has approved the name change of this state. The Union Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday, gave its approval to this proposal, which has been unresolved for a long time. This was revealed by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. To change the name of a state, the legislative assembly must approve the resolution. Before introducing the bill to change the name of the state in Parliament, the President takes the opinion of the respective state legislative assembly. Then the bill is introduced in both houses of Parliament. A simple majority is sufficient for the approval of the bill. After that, the name will be officially changed with the approval of the President. This has gained importance when the assembly elections are going to be held in Kerala this year. For the first time, the Kerala State Assembly passed a resolution on the name change of the state in 2023. The proposal to change the name of the state of Kerala was approved in the Union Cabinet meeting on Tuesday at the newly built Prime Minister's Office 'Seva Teerth'. This is the first time that the Cabinet has met in Seva Teerth. The Cabinet has approved three railway projects worth Rs. 9072 crores related to the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. The support price of jute has been increased by Rs. 275 per quintal.
