Women’s Welfare Association Protests in Srinagar

The Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Welfare Association on Monday staged a protest at Municipal Park in Srinagar, demanding an increase in minimum wages and implementation of the Minimum Wages Act.

Scores of women assembled at the park and raised slogans highlighting financial hardships faced by low-paid workers. The protesters questioned how a lone woman could survive on a monthly remuneration of Rs 5100, terming the amount inadequate to meet basic living expenses amid rising costs.
