Bargarh Loksabha MP demand for full services Cancer Hospital

MP Pradeep Purohit has written to the government to draw its attention to the rising incidence of cancer in Bargarh district of Odisha and to highlight the need to make the Bargarh Cancer Hospital fully functional at the earliest. According to official data, the number of cancer patients in Odisha increased from 43,210 in 2013 to 52,960 in 2022, while cancer deaths increased from 23,886 to 29,287. According to the National Cancer Registry (NCR) programme, this number is expected to cross 55,000 by 2025. In western Odisha, including districts like Bargarh, Sambalpur and Balangir, about 22,000 new cases were reported between 2021-23, forcing a large number of people to travel outside the state for treatment. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Government has provided better health coverage to the poor through schemes like Ayushman Bharat and the present Union Government is strengthening the health infrastructure with the commitment of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas". In this context, Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit has demanded that all sanctioned posts in Bargarh Cancer Hospital, built at a cost of Rs 138 crore, be filled immediately and that the poor patients of Odisha get timely, accessible and quality treatment. In addition, services like PET-CT radiation and ICU should also be started immediately, MP Purohit has demanded.
