When dissent is met with bullets, democracy bleeds.

During a raid conducted by the federal agency ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), which is responsible for identifying undocumented immigrants in the United States, a 37-year-old unarmed writer, Ranny Nicole Good, was killed.
Due to a mere misunderstanding and without conducting any inquiry, ICE agent Jonathan Ross fired multiple shots at her from close range. In reality, Ranny was present at the scene to protest the injustice being done to her neighbor.
According to viral video evidence, Ranny was attempting to turn her car and leave the area when she was shot, resulting in her death on the spot. The killing of a writer in such a brutal manner, followed by the administration controversially labeling her an “internal terrorist,” has triggered widespread outrage across the country.
An examination of the roots of this incident clearly reveals the administration’s increasingly repressive policies and the unchecked powers granted to security forces. Large numbers of ordinary American citizens, students, and human rights activists participated in the protests. In several places, the protests turned violent. In Minneapolis, intense clashes erupted between protesters and police. The movement is no longer limited to a single killing; it has evolved into a broader challenge to ICE’s functioning and a pointed critique of the erosion of democratic values in the United States.
The long-term consequences of this incident could be extremely serious and far-reaching. Most significantly, the already fragile public trust in federal institutions is now on the verge of collapse.
