Major success by Malda district police: large numbers of firearms recovered in separate operations

Malda district police achieved a major success in two separate operations. A large quantity of firearms was recovered in a single night, including 10 pipe guns, 5 seven mm guns, and 25 rounds of cartridges. The objective was arms trafficking. Police initially suspect the weapons were brought from Bihar. Based on a tip-off, Mainul Hasan (20) was arrested from the Milki area of English Bazar police station. Ten pipe guns, one seven mm gun, and five cartridges were recovered from him. Police said Mainul was carrying this large quantity of weapons with the intention of selling them, but he was arrested before he could do so. Meanwhile, on the same night, police from Kaliachak police station arrested a man named Anarul Haque (45) from Sujapur. Four seven mm guns and 20 rounds of cartridges were recovered from him. Police sources said Mainul's house is in Mirjatpur, Lalgola, Murshidabad, and Anarul's house is in Golapganj, Malda district. Police initially believe that all these weapons came from Bihar.
