Gulfisha Fatima Released from Tihar Jail After Five Years Following Supreme Court Bail

Gulfisha Fatima has been released from Tihar Jail after nearly five years.

Gulfisha Fatima was arrested under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots case and had been imprisoned in Tihar Jail since then. The Supreme Court granted her bail, which made her release possible.

The court stated that continued detention was not necessary at this stage. Following the grant of bail, Gulfisha Fatima was released from jail, bringing joy to her family and supporters. Several civil rights groups and activists welcomed the decision, calling it a significant step towards justice and due process.

The Supreme Court also clarified that the bail does not imply a judgment on the case itself. The case will continue through the legal process, and the final judgment will be delivered only after the trial.
