Congress Claims Victory in National Herald Case, Demands BJP Apology and PM’s Resignation

Koraput | Dec 19, 2025 - The Congress party claimed victory in the long-running National Herald case and accused the BJP of misusing central investigating agencies to harass and defame the opposition for over a decade. Senior Congress leaders in Koraput demanded a public apology from the BJP and called for the resignation of the Prime Minister.

Koraput District Congress President Rupak Turuk said that for the last 10 years the BJP government had been using agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to target Congress leaders in the National Herald case. “Despite sustained harassment and political pressure, truth has prevailed and Congress has emerged victorious,” he said, adding that the BJP should apologise to the people of the country for misleading them.

Congress Legislature Party leader and Pottangi MLA Ramchandra Kadam also reacted strongly to the development. Terming the outcome a moral victory for Congress, Kadam said the BJP had deliberately attempted to malign the party through false allegations. He demanded that the BJP immediately seek forgiveness from the people of India.

Taking his criticism further, Kadam also called for the resignation of the Prime Minister, alleging that the misuse of central agencies under the BJP regime had damaged democratic institutions. “The people have seen through the political vendetta, and accountability must follow,” he asserted.

Both leaders reiterated that the Congress would continue to fight against what they described as authoritarian misuse of power and stand for democratic values and constitutional principles.
