Dehradun | The Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, witnessed a proud and momentous occasion on Saturday as 525 Gentlemen Cadets successfully completed their training and marched past the historic Chetwode Drill Square in a grand Passing Out Parade (POP), marking the successful culmination of their journey into military leadership.
Among the passing-out batch, 491 young officers were commissioned into the Indian Army, ready to shoulder the sacred responsibility of safeguarding the nation’s borders and upholding the highest traditions of valour, discipline, and sacrifice. In addition, 34 cadets from the armed forces of 14 friendly foreign nations also passed out, further strengthening India’s enduring military cooperation and defence diplomacy with partner countries.
The Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, reviewed the parade and took the salute. Addressing the newly commissioned officers, General Dwivedi congratulated them on achieving this significant milestone and reminded them that the Indian Army expects its leaders to uphold the timeless values of honour, courage, integrity, and selfless service in every circumstance.
“The Indian Army needs young leaders who will carry forward its legacy of discipline, bravery, and supreme sacrifice. I am confident that each one of you will live up to these ideals with unwavering commitment,” the Army Chief said.
In recognition of exceptional all-round performance, Officer Cadet Nishkal Dwivedi was conferred the prestigious Sword of Honour, the highest accolade awarded to a cadet at the Academy.
The Passing Out Parade once again reflected the Indian Military Academy’s role as the cradle of military leadership, shaping officers not only for India but also for friendly nations across the world—reinforcing its reputation as a global centre of excellence in military training.
