Art Extravaganza in the Sunny Lawns of AMU



Aligarh, 19 November: The Department of Fine Arts, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organized a vibrant one-day Open-Air Art Exhibition cum Display of Paintings featuring the works of first-semester students of the Master of Visual Arts (MVA) programme. The exhibition, held on the department premises, drew enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and art enthusiasts.

Spread across the open courtyard, the display featured an impressive collection of sketches, mixed-media compositions, abstract works, landscape studies, portraits, and thematic paintings reflecting contemporary social and cultural narratives. The exhibition offered a glimpse into the young artists’ evolving styles, technical skills, and innovative approaches to visual expression.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Abid Hadi, Chairman, Department of Fine Arts, who commended the students for their dedication and fresh perspectives. He emphasized the importance of experiential learning and encouraged the budding artists to continue exploring new dimensions in art.

Prof. T. N. Satheesan, Dean, Faculty of Arts, also visited the exhibition and interacted with the participants. He praised the quality of the artworks and lauded the department’s consistent efforts in fostering a creative and supportive learning environment. Both dignitaries offered constructive feedback, which greatly motivated the students.

Faculty members from various sections of the department were present throughout the event, guiding students and appreciating their work. The open-air setting added a lively and informal touch to the exhibition, allowing visitors to engage closely with the artworks and the artists behind them.

Students expressed that the exhibition served as an invaluable platform for gaining confidence, receiving critiques, and experiencing public display settings—skills essential for their future artistic careers.
