Synergetic Green Warriors Foundation (SGWF) Hosts IIM Jammu Students Under Flagship Programme Bandhan

In a remarkable display of community partnership and cultural heritage, the Synergetic Green Warriors Foundation (SGWF) hosted a group of students from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu under its flagship programme Bandhan at the SGWF Headquarters, Gurha Brahmana, Akhnoor. The initiative aimed to provide the visiting students with a deeper understanding of grassroots-level social work, community engagement, and sustainable rural development models championed by SGWF.
The visiting students were accorded a warm traditional Dogra welcome, complete with teeka, garlanding, and showering of flower petals, symbolizing Jammu’s rich cultural ethos. The event also featured an authentic Dogra cuisine experience, where students relished local delicacies such as Rajma Chawal, Ambal, Mah Chana Dal, Kashmiri Dum Aloo, Yakhni Poora, and Red Sweet Rice. The gesture was deeply appreciated by the IIM delegation, who lauded the hospitality and traditional flavors of Jammu’s countryside.
Dr. Sonia Verma, Director and CEO of SGWF, in her welcome address, highlighted the major achievements of the organization in environmental sustainability, women empowerment, and rural development. She underscored the Foundation’s vision of integrating youth leadership and innovation in addressing environmental and social challenges across Jammu & Kashmir.
Mrs. Reeta Verma, National President of SGWF, elaborated on the overall functioning and structure of the NGO, emphasizing the collective commitment of its members toward inclusive development, community awareness, and environmental resilience.
Ms. Makhani Verma, National General Secretary, presented the key accomplishments of SGWF, focusing on recent projects in rural handicraft revival, plantation drives, and awareness campaigns on climate resilience and waste management.
Ms. Neelam Virdhi, General Secretary, Women and Family Welfare Division, presented an insightful report on the Foundation’s efforts to combat domestic violence, revealing that the NGO has successfully handled and resolved 292 cases to date through counseling, legal support, and community mediation.
Mr. Monu Verma, Director, Hum Saath Saath Hain (a social initiative under SGWF), showcased the organization’s achievements in supporting underprivileged girls through marriage assistance programs and educational sponsorships, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to social justice and equality.
Mr. Sandeep Sharma, Treasurer of SGWF, played a pivotal role in coordinating and managing the overall arrangements for the exposure visit, ensuring the smooth execution of the day’s activities and interactions.
Dr. Rakesh Verma, Director (Research & Development), shared the innovative breakthroughs achieved by his division, including the successful development of Summer Apple and Raj Harar species, along with several other sustainable agricultural technologies designed to benefit the farming community of Jammu region.
The event concluded with heartfelt remarks from Patrons Manmohan Singh, Dr. Meenu Sharma, and Ravi Verma, who extended a warm welcome and best wishes to the IIM students, encouraging them to carry forward the spirit of social responsibility and innovation.
The interaction under Bandhan served as a valuable exposure for IIM Jammu students, enabling them to witness first-hand the grassroots impact of non-profit initiatives and sustainable practices that bridge academic knowledge with real-world implementation.
