People try to snatch accused from police, 5 arrest

On 25th August Harishchandrapur Police Station got information that locals at Datian village under Sultannagar Gram Panchayet detained a person presently residing on suspicion that he had made an indecent proposal to a local girl of the village.

On receiving the information, Police Station sent Quick Response Team which reached the spot and inecovered the detained person and advised the local peoples to lodge a formal complaint for necessary legal action.

However, the locals obstructed the Police Van on National Highway and tried to snatch away the rescued boy for conducting salishi. The area has a tendency to conduct such local salishi and extort money.

The officers somehow managed to bring the situation under control and brought the detained person to the Harishchandrapur Police Station.

Later Sub Divisional Police Officer, Chanchal & force reached at the spot and arrested five persons and conducted raid against the other accused after identification in the video.

At present, the situation is under control and the area is peaceful. Picket have been placed. A specific case has been started and raids are being conducted.
