The international mothers day was celebrated at Dumaguda village of Marichamala GP by Founder of NGO Globes Foundation and members of the Sailasikhar Sanskritik Parisad. This was an innovative practice started by the Foundation. Around 50 elderly people and several other villagers were present on the occasion under dynamic guidance of Social Reformer and ex Panchayat Samiti Member Mr. Ghenu Muduli. Starting the programme Dr. RC Dash, founder of the Foundation stated that India is moving towards becoming number one nation in the world. To fulfill the said dreams we have to come over some of the old customridden practices still prevailing in our society which is working as great hurdles in our path of progress. Due to lack of awareness and proper education on long term adverse impact of some of the customs like child marriage. Halfmarriage. Etc...etc... particularly prevailing in the rural areas of tribal dominated districts like Koraput, kalahandi. Kandhamal etc. The poorest of the poor and downtrodden sections of the society are spending lakhs of rupees by selling their minimum households to keep their image in the society due to dominance of this evil practices. Shri Das stated that after working for long years in this area and becoming acquainted with the customs and seeing the miseries of the poor people, he has started an innovative movement to form youthclubs in the villages and try to convince poor tribals to refrain from these unnecessary acts and customs and invest the same money for education and future of their kids. Dr. Asjok Mohanty , retired presidential awardee teacher spoke in length the adverse impact of these custom ridden evil practices and how it is creating more number of poor who is tremaining below povertyline. .he suggested the breakthrough has to start from the affluent family first so that same can percolate down to others. An oath to this effect was also administered and all dignitories appealed the elderly people of the village to refrain from such evil practices. At the end of the programme blankets were distributed to all elderly people of the village by Dr. Dash and Mrs Harapriya Sarangi in memory of their mother latr Haramoni Das . Subsequently Dr. Das interacted with some youth members and motivated them to form youthclubs and take the move ahead . He also promised to provide all support required for the purpose. Mrs. Das felicitated Village leader Ghenu Barik by putting Umaria for his tireless efforts to make the programme success in a very short time and his innovative thinking to eradicate customridden evil systems deep rooted in the blood and butter of people.
