45-year-old woman drowns in open drain as heavy rains lash Mumbai

A 45-year-old woman drowned in an open drain in the MIDC area of Mumbai's Andheri amid the heavy rainfall that lashed the city on Wednesday night. Vimal Gaikwad was swept away for approximately 100 metres before her body was recovered following a search operation that lasted about an hour. She was declared brought dead by doctors, according to civic officials.
