11 people died due to thunder lightning in Malda

According to sources, the three persons were picking and harvesting mangoes in the mango orchard at that time. At that time they were killed by thunder lightning. The deceased are Chandan Sahani (40), Raj Mridha (16) and Manojit Mandal (21). Three minors, two youths and an elderly person are in the list of dead in Malda due to thunder lightning. District Magistrate Nitin Singhania said that 2 lakh rupees will be given to the families of those who died due to lightning strikes. It is also known that an eleventh class student died due to lightning in a mango orchard in Adina village under Gajol police station. News reported that Asit Saha (19) was struck by lightning while picking mangoes in the mango orchard during the storm. The incident cast a shadow of mourning across the area and the family. A husband and wife died due to lightning strike in Kurshadanga village of Harishchandrapur 1 block of Malda district. It is reported that they went to the field to do farming work at that time. The dead couple, Nayan Roy (23), Priyanka Roy (20). They got married just 2 months before. Across Malda, 3 people were killed by lightning in Old Malda, 2 in Harishchandrapur, 2 in Manikchak, at least one death each in Ratua, Gajol and English Bazar. Besides, many were injured. It is reported that they are currently undergoing treatment at Malda Medical College Hospital. It is said that two others including a housewife were injured as a result of sudden lightning. One of them is Fatema Bibi of Budhia village in English Bazar. Another injured person is Dulu Mandal, a student of class VIII, a resident of Sahapur village in Old Malda. The injured by persons are undergoing treatment at Maldah Medical College Hospital. After the intense heat, in the afternoon suddenly the sky broke and rain came.
