Parliament Update : No Calls After Office Hours? ‘Right to Disconnect’ Bill Introduced in Lok Sabha

A private member’s bill titled “Right to Disconnect Bill, 2025” has been introduced in the Lok Sabha by MP Supriya Sule. The proposed law aims to give employees the legal right to ignore work-related calls, emails and messages after official working hours.

The bill seeks to improve work-life balance by protecting workers from digital work pressure and unpaid overtime. However, it is important to note that the bill has only been introduced and not yet passed, which means it is not a law at present.

If approved in the future, it could prevent companies from forcing staff to respond to work communications after office hours except in emergencies.
