Koraput Damanjodi Higher Secondary School Shines Nationally with Water Conservation Award

Koraput | Nov 12, 2025 - In a proud moment for Odisha, Koraput Damanjodi Higher Secondary School has brought national glory by being recognised in the 6th National Water Awards 2024, announced by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The institution’s remarkable efforts in promoting water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and sustainable resource management have earned it distinction among the Best Schools in the Country category.

Union Minister of Jal Shakti Shri C.R. Paatil declared the winners today at Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi, acknowledging 46 individuals and organisations across 10 categories for their outstanding contributions to water resource management. The awards aim to celebrate those leading the nation towards a “Jal Samridh Bharat” (Water-Enriched India).

The award ceremony will be held on November 18, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, will grace the event as the Chief Guest and present the awards.

Speaking about the achievement, school officials expressed immense pride, stating that this recognition reflects years of dedicated work by students and teachers toward environmental sustainability and community awareness. The school’s innovative practices in rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and student-led awareness drives stood out during the national evaluation process conducted by the Central Water Commission (CWC) and Central Ground Water Board (CGWB).

Instituted in 2018, the National Water Awards continue to encourage individuals and institutions to adopt water-wise practices. For Koraput district, this national recognition marks a moment of pride, showcasing how education and environmental commitment can create lasting change.
